I’m Grace. I created Brave Backpacker out of my love for travel — originally wanting to share my stories, photos, and tips. But over time, I realized something was missing. What I truly felt called to share was my personal growth and how it has unfolded through my solo journeys. I used to think solo travel was only about seeing the world, but I’ve come to realize it’s just as much about revealing the self.
Before solo traveling, my life felt like it was constantly on hold. I dreamed of seeing the world, but when no one would commit to booking a flight, my anxiety and fears would get the best of me. It was during a low point in my life — when I was craving any kind of escape — that I finally took a leap of faith and traveled alone. Ever since that first solo trip, I’ve felt as though I stopped waiting for life to change and started taking it into my own hands.
By stepping into unfamiliar environments, my eyes were opened to a completely new way of experiencing the world. I was forced to face my fears of the unknown head-on. It was only by meeting those fears despite emotional and physical resistance that I realized how many of them were stories I had been telling myself. Letting go of those beliefs meant shedding an old version of myself, and on the other side was an inner strength rooted in confidence, independence, and self-love.
What began as a curiosity for different places and cultures slowly turned into a deeper sense of purpose: helping women face their fears around solo travel. Much of the online travel space feels surface-level and performative, often overlooking the emotional and psychological shifts that happen along the way. Through Brave Backpacker, I strive to bridge the gap between inner work and travel by leading with honesty, authenticity, and vulnerability.
While my main focus is supporting women, Brave Backpacker is for anyone, from anywhere, who feels called to change something in their life. It’s for the woman dreaming of her first solo trip but feeling afraid. For the one who’s already gone and is trying to understand the transformation she feels. And for those craving spiritual insight through movement and self-reflection. No matter where you’re starting from, you belong here.
My purpose isn’t just to offer travel inspiration, but reassurance — before a journey begins, while you’re in it, and long after you return home. Through personal stories, reflections, and practical resources, I hope to bring clarity, depth, and familiarity to your experience. I share guides, tips, and tools to help you navigate your journey at your own pace. And for those seeking deeper guidance, I welcome personal connection with patience, trust, and respect for where you are. I’ll never push you to move faster than you’re ready for, because every journey is uniquely yours.
Brave Backpacker is a reminder that travel doesn’t have to be fearless to be transformative. Sometimes bravery looks like booking the flight anyway. Sometimes it looks like sitting with discomfort, listening inward, and trusting yourself one step at a time. This is an invitation to travel both outward into the world and inward toward yourself — because the bravest journeys often begin within.

Solo travel is about stepping outside your familiar life and comfort zone. It doesn’t have to mean going far — even the smallest acts of exploration count. To me, solo travel is letting curiosity lead the way and opening yourself up to new people, places, and experiences that expand your horizon.
-
Self-discovery is about stepping into your most authentic self. By learning to face your fears and emotions, you begin to uncover who you truly are beneath them. It’s the process of understanding the different parts of yourself and learning how to express them confidently in the world.
-
Spirituality is about awakening a deeper sense of self, purpose, and connection — to the universe, or whatever you choose to call it. It’s the shift from moving through life on autopilot to becoming more aware of your thoughts, sensations, and experiences. For me, it’s about presence, acceptance, and choosing love — even in the ordinary moments.
